Fortnite Players Can Catch Early Glimpses of The Mandalorian and Grogu This Week

The Mandalorian and Grogu will hit theaters on May 22, but Fortnite players can catch the first ten minutes of the film early and for free on May 19.

After teasing the island in April, Epic Games unveiled a trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu Watch Party Island, now part of Fortnite. Starting at 10 a.m. EST on May 19, players can dive into this new experience. Developed by Fairview Portals and Beyond Creative, the island is inspired by Navarro, a planet featured in the Disney+ series that the movie is based on, and includes an amphitheater with a massive screen. On that day, the screen will showcase a message from director Jon Favreau, followed by the first ten minutes of the film.

Initial reactions to the movie have been mixed, with some expressing disappointment. One observer noted that it feels more like a Star Wars video game or a Netflix series rather than the blockbuster that aims to revive the franchise’s glory. Given the lukewarm pre-release buzz, it’s a smart move for Fortnite to offer a sneak peek of The Mandalorian and Grogu before audiences decide to head to theaters.

Beyond just watching the movie clip, players will find plenty to do on the island. There will be quests to locate Grogu, battle waves of Stormtroopers, and collect bounties. Players who spend over 20 minutes on the island will unlock the exclusive Mandalorian Sanctuary loading screen. This island is part of an ongoing collaboration between Disney and Fortnite, which previously saw The Mandalorian receive his own outfit in the game back in 2020.

While the island is now visible on Fortnite’s main menu, it won’t be accessible until May 19. Epic Games and Disney also plan to utilize The Mandalorian and Grogu Watch Party Island again on May 26 for a post-release Q&A with Favreau.
