Fortnite’s Halloween event features a thrilling lineup of horror franchises.

Fortnite’s annual Halloween celebration is gearing up to be one of the most thrilling Fortnitemares yet, and we haven’t even kicked things off. The trailer for Fortnitemares 2026 has dropped, teasing some exciting additions, including a lineup of beloved horror franchise characters making their way into the game.

October is the ultimate month for horror fans. The atmosphere shifts as decorations go up, costumes are planned, and streaming services overflow with chilling films. While Fortnite maintains a playful, cartoonish aesthetic, it fully embraces the Halloween spirit each year with a major event packed with spooky skins and fun collaborations.

The newly released trailer for Fortnitemares 2026 showcases a host of thrilling horror icons set to invade the Battle Royale this Halloween. The excitement began with a crossover featuring Five Nights at Freddy’s earlier this week, and it only escalated with the cinematic trailer that premiered today.

This year’s Fortnitemares will introduce a Freddy Krueger skin (and possibly a boss fight?) from Nightmare on Elm Street, Betelgeuse from Beetlejuice, Asta from Black Clover—likely to assist in battling foes, the iconic Lady Liberty from The Purge: Election Day, who was previously spotted at Halloween Horror Nights, and the infamous Slender Man, a staple of internet horror lore.

The trailer wraps up with an even more thrilling reveal: the One Wish Willow from Obsession flashes on screen before Freddy Krueger slashes the camera, plunging everything into darkness.
