Fortnite’s latest season immerses players in an arcade experience.
Chapter 7 Season 4 has arrived, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting launches in Fortnite’s history, centered around the themes of hacking and video games. Players can now dive into the Battle Royale island, where they’ll encounter a plethora of gamers sporting Sonic-inspired outfits, along with items and weapons from various beloved game franchises, and iconic locations reminiscent of classic levels like Green Hill Zone.
This season, dubbed Fortnite Override, introduces a host of video game characters into the mix. The new Battle Pass kicks things off by granting immediate access to Sonic the Hedgehog upon purchase. Those who grab the pass in the first week will also unlock the Grace Crowne skin (Tier 60) along with her Infiltrator style early.
While some skins may not be directly tied to existing franchises, they certainly capture the essence of different gaming genres. Although many were hoping for additional collaboration skins in the Battle Pass, these will be available later in the Item Shop. Shadow and Doctor Eggman are among the first expected characters to hit the Fortnite shop, with more to follow from franchises like Kingdom Hearts, Pac-Man, Mega Man, Persona 5, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, 99 Nights in the Forest, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro.
As players await the Item Shop refresh, they can focus on grinding for Battle Pass levels to earn more V-Bucks and cosmetics. To level up quickly, players can jump into the island and tackle quests. For an instant boost, they can utilize the admin panel in the lobby to access the new Lobby Hacks mechanic, which provides helpful bonuses. Starting the season with the “OverrideXP” code grants a hefty 40,000 XP—equivalent to half a season level.
On the island, players will discover Cheat Codes that summon sprites. They can activate a Tetris Rift to spawn Tetriminos and engage in a game of Tetris. Players should also seek out the Override Console, which appears in each match and offers special in-game abilities to whoever finds it, though it will reveal their (or their squad’s) location on the map. Sonic’s Power Sneakers allow players to zip across the map, while Mega Man’s Mega Buster and Midas’s Masterpiece are currently among the most formidable weapons available. Epic Games has confirmed that the Kingdom Key from Kingdom Hearts and Rebecca’s Guns from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are also on the way.
Chapter 7 Season 4 is set to conclude on October 31, paving the way for the annual mini-season before Chapter 8 kicks off. This gives players ample time to explore all that Override has to offer and aim for Level 100.
