Fortnite’s Unstable event hints at major Chapter 7 Season 4 revelations.
A recently leaked piece of key art for the upcoming season of Fortnite appears to be authentic, following the Unstable event in Chapter 7 Season 3 and a crossover comic featuring Sonic the Hedgehog that hinted at a season themed around “Gaming Legends.”
The Unstable event has wrapped up in Fortnite, resulting in significant changes to the Chapter 7 Season 3 Battle Royale map. This event lasted around four minutes, during which the Zero Point vanished and was replaced by a massive cartridge. The water surrounding this cartridge is completely glitched, and it showcases several classic game titles, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Pac-Man, Tetris, and Mega Man. Players had already speculated that many of these characters would be central to Fortnite Override, although Mega Man was still a rumor, only appearing in leaked promotional materials.
On August 14, what seems to be key art for Chapter 7 Season 4 emerged online. This artwork not only included characters from the Unstable event but also featured others like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, and Ryu and Blanka from Street Fighter, among others.
The Fortnite community is split on the authenticity of the leak. On one side, the art is highly detailed and includes elements that have already been revealed, such as the giant cartridge. On the flip side, some characters appeared unfinished or out of place, particularly Pac-Man, who was missing his eyes.
The next day, a Sonic the Hedgehog x Fortnite comic was unveiled at the Chaos Hunt fan event in New York City. The cover art of the comic shows Sonic and Shadow wearing the same armor and shoes depicted in the leaked image. Additionally, Sonic has been referenced in an in-game event, lending further credibility to the leak.
A trailer for the upcoming season is set to drop on August 16, so we won’t have to wait long for confirmation on the legitimacy of the leaked key art. As it stands, it certainly seems to be the real deal.
