Fortnite’s upcoming season features exciting crossovers with Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, Persona 5, and others.

The first trailer for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override has dropped, confirming the exciting gaming crossover extravaganza that many leaks hinted at.

Blending cinematic moments with gameplay, the trailer showcases Jonesy as he navigates an island brimming with characters and settings inspired by various video games. Among the familiar faces are Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails, Dr. Eggman, the Joker from Persona 5, Mega Man, Scorpion, Raiden, Kitana, and The Deer from Roblox’s 99 Nights in the Forest.

Subsequent key art revealed on social media also highlighted Pac-Man, Blanka and Ryu from Street Fighter, Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, Master Chief from Halo, Rush from Mega Man, and Sora from Kingdom Hearts. Interestingly, a character named Geno, who is an original Fortnite creation, will play a significant role as a villain in the upcoming season, despite not being from Super Mario RPG.

The gaming influence permeates the gameplay as well. Throughout the trailer, we see Jonesy pursuing a 1-Up coin, sprinting through a Green Hill Zone-inspired area of the battle royale map, wielding Mega Man’s Mega Blaster, and dodging falling Tetris blocks from above.

The theme of Override, centered around what Fortnite refers to as “Gaming Legends,” has been a well-known secret within the community for a while. Recently, key art featuring characters like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro leaked, and an early release of a Sonic the Hedgehog crossover comic added to the buzz. Teasers for the new season had already confirmed the involvement of characters from games like Persona 5 and Pac-Man, with additional leaks mentioning Kingdom Hearts, which also turned out to be accurate.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override is set to launch on August 20. While that date is still a few days away, players can already explore the Smuggler’s Gambit island, inspired by the Smuggler’s Run ride at Galaxy’s Edge, where they can take on various tasks for Hondo at the Mersa Vera Station.

Clearly, the next few months in Fortnite will be packed with pop culture crossovers, ramping up the excitement even further than usual.

A recognizable gaming tune can be heard in Fortnite, further supporting the leaks about this upcoming gaming-themed season.
