Forza Horizon 6’s release date is officially set, but PS5 players will need to be patient.
Playground Games is taking center stage at today’s Xbox Developer Direct, not only unveiling its highly anticipated Fable revival but also showcasing the next installment in its renowned open-world racing franchise. Forza Horizon 6 is set to deliver a stunning journey through Japan, with a confirmed launch date in May, aligning with earlier leaks from Xbox.
Mark your calendars for May 19, 2026, when Forza Horizon 6 will hit Xbox Series X/S and PC, with a PS5 version following later in the year. This date was hinted at in an in-game message from Forza Horizon 5 just last week, suggesting it was revealed a bit too soon.
As always, the game revolves around a Horizon festival, where players compete in various challenges leading up to major events that unlock new objectives. This familiar structure is enhanced by the exciting new setting. The expansive open world features the picturesque Japanese countryside and the bustling streets of Tokyo, with developers claiming their rendition of Tokyo is five times larger than any urban area they’ve previously created.
Forza Horizon 6 will launch with the largest selection of cars ever available on day one, including a new R-class for high-performance vehicles. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s even a giant robot making an appearance, adding an unexpected twist to the racing experience.
This marks the first time the Forza series has ventured into Japan, as Playground Games aimed to “do the country justice,” a goal that was supported by insights gained from its Hot Wheels DLC.
