Forza Horizon 6’s release date may have been unintentionally revealed by Xbox.
An X user has suggested that Xbox may have unintentionally revealed the release date for Forza Horizon 6 through a pop-up ad in Forza Horizon 5. This potential leak surfaces just ahead of the Xbox Developer Direct on January 20, where Playground Games, the studio behind Forza Horizon, is expected to share new information about both Forza Horizon 6 and Fable.
The user, XboxF10, shared a screenshot that seems to show a promotional image detailing premium editions of Forza Horizon 6. This image reportedly includes information about upcoming DLC, indicating an “early access” date of May 15, which is four days prior to the general release on May 19. XboxF10 claims to have encountered this pop-up after exiting the garage in Forza Horizon 5.
However, skepticism is warranted. There’s no independent verification of this image being present in Forza Horizon 5, and other reporters have not confirmed its existence either. Additionally, pop-up ads are not a common occurrence in Forza Horizon 5; the brief transition between ordering and receiving a car typically doesn’t allow for such ads, and players are more likely to see cinematic pop-ups related to current events in the game world, which occur after car delivery. Nevertheless, the logo in XboxF10’s screenshot and the in-game art appear to align with official Forza Horizon 6 pre-launch materials. It’s plausible, though unconfirmed, that Forza will launch in the first half of 2026, with Fable following in the latter half of the year.
Forza Horizon 6 is set in Japan, featuring diverse locations such as the rural countryside, Mt. Fuji, and the bustling city of Tokyo, complete with its intricate elevated road systems. Art director Don Arceta described these environments as “one of our most detailed and layered” to date. The game will also highlight Japanese car culture, showcasing elements like Kei cars, precision motorsport, drifting, and a strong emphasis on customization, as noted by cultural consultant Kyoko Yamashita after the game’s announcement.
