Fresh leaks unveil additional insights on the Fitbit Edge, including its pricing.
Following the recent leaks of the Google Fitbit Edge, more exciting details about this upcoming fitness tracker have emerged, shedding light on its features and pricing. The Fitbit Edge is expected to retail for €179 in Europe and £159 in the UK, based on information shared by an outlet. Considering the €99/£85 price tag of the $99 screen-free Fitbit Air in those regions, estimates suggest the new Fitbit Edge will be around $180 in the US.
This device will sport a 1.34-inch always-on OLED touchscreen and operate on Fitbit OS, providing access to Google Play. It will connect seamlessly to both Android and iOS devices via Bluetooth. In addition to GPS, the Edge will be equipped with a range of sensors, including an accelerometer, barometer, altimeter, gyroscope, and multiple optical sensors for heart rate and blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitoring, along with electrical sensors for ECG readings.
The fitness tracking capabilities of the Edge will cover a wide array of metrics, such as steps, distance, calories burned, skin temperature, sleep patterns, cardiac load, and menstrual cycles. It will also monitor various physical activities, including running, swimming, golf, and over 40 different exercises, offering real-time coaching and personalized fitness programs powered by Google Gemini. Furthermore, the tracker will keep an eye out for serious health issues like atrial fibrillation and irregular heart rhythms, providing alerts when necessary.
The user-replaceable lithium-ion battery is rated for up to seven days of use, though this will drop to about two days with the always-on display. The Fitbit Edge will also boast an IP68 water resistance rating and is anticipated to launch in four color options similar to the Pixel Watch 5: obsidian and matte black, olive and satin pyrite, canyon and champagne gold, and fog and polished silver.
