As the winter anime season picks up steam, it hits a pause again. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End season 2 is the latest series to take a break, but this is all in preparation for an exciting new mini-arc in the cozy fantasy anime.

The sixth episode of Frieren season 2, originally scheduled for this week, has been delayed until February 27.

This brief hiatus isn’t due to production issues; rather, it’s to set the stage for the Divine Revolte arc. While manga readers are already familiar with the upcoming events, anime fans can look forward to intense battles as Frieren faces off against a powerful demon in the northern territories.

Unfortunately for anime enthusiasts, Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 is also skipping this week, with a recap episode airing instead, though it seems Frieren won’t be following that path.

Frieren season 2 has garnered as much praise as its predecessor, climbing to the top of fan review charts on My Anime List (now sitting just behind season 1). Its beautifully crafted end credits, drawn entirely with colored pencils, stand out as a bold statement against the growing presence of AI art and dubbing in the anime landscape.

This season of Frieren will be shorter than anticipated, consisting of only 10 episodes compared to the first season’s 28. Jujutsu Kaisen is also set to take a break for the Culling Game in late March, but it could return within the next year.
