For horror fans, there’s some disappointing news. While Courteney Cox is set to return for Scream 7, her character, the feisty Gale Weathers, will reportedly have limited screen time.

An unofficial Scream news source on Twitter claims that Cox will appear for only 22 minutes in Scream 7. We should take this with caution until Paramount confirms it. However, the Scream 7 trailer shows just a brief glimpse of Weathers, suggesting she may not be in the film much.

In the trailer, the journalist arrives in a news van to meet Neve Campbell’s iconic character, Sidney Prescott, likely after the chaos has begun. However, Weathers will finally get a long-awaited moment in a leaked clip where she interviews Prescott on a talk show.

Despite Cox’s limited runtime, it will be the most screen time she’s had in the franchise since Scream 3. After Weathers found success and moved to the city, her appearances in the newer films have been sparse, with only brief scenes in Scream 5 and 6.

The new sequel shifts the focus back to Prescott. Even after relocating from Woodsboro and starting a quieter life, Scream 7 sees Ghostface returning to target Sidney and her daughter (Isabel May). Director Kevin Williamson has confirmed that the film will center on these two characters, stating, “It’s continuing the legacy of Sidney Prescott. It’s about her daughter. It’s about family.”

Scream 7 also brings back Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown, along with Matthew Lillard (Stu Macher) and David Arquette (Dewey), despite their characters’ apparent deaths in earlier films.

Scream 7 is set to hit theaters on February 27. For more, stay tuned for the latest in slasher films and upcoming horror releases.
