Game Freak announces summer 2026 launch for its new action RPG featuring a unique one-person, one-dog dynamic, set to release on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
Beast of Reincarnation, an exciting new action-RPG from the creators of Pokémon, is set to launch this summer on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. It will also be available from day one on Xbox Game Pass.
The release date was revealed during a recent developer showcase, which included a presentation and some impressive gameplay footage. This marks Game Freak’s first major AAA title outside the Pokémon franchise, and notably, it’s making its debut on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox rather than Nintendo platforms.
Set in a post-apocalyptic Japan in the year 4046, the game unfolds in a world ravaged by a blight that corrupts all life into monstrous beings known as malefacts. Players will step into the shoes of Emma, a talented young woman with the unique ability to manipulate plant life, allowing her to navigate treacherous landscapes and combat the malefacts. Emma is joined by her loyal canine companion, Koo, who can execute commands during battles while Emma engages in fast-paced swordplay. Let’s hope there’s plenty of opportunity to give Koo some love!
Director Kota Furushima shared that successfully executing parries grants players points to activate Koo’s abilities. “The command menu for Koo can be opened at any time, allowing players to move seamlessly between action and command-based combat. Through this flow, Koo’s presence is constantly felt by your side,” Furushima explained.
Described as a “one-person, one-dog action-RPG,” Beast of Reincarnation has fans eager to see what Game Freak can achieve beyond the Pokémon universe, especially after their previous title, Little Town Hero, didn’t quite hit the mark.
