GameStop announces the end of the Mario Kart World Switch 2 bundle, with the game set to retail for $80 or be unavailable soon.
Nintendo appears to have phased out the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle, following a leaked internal memo and subsequent confirmation from a retailer.
One silver lining for Mario Kart World, especially after facing backlash over its pricing and mixed reviews, is that most players only shelled out $50 for the game as part of the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle at launch. While the original $80 price tag was seen as excessive—especially given the game’s lukewarm reception after years of anticipation—Nintendo’s decision to offer a more affordable option made it an attractive deal.
When the bundle was first introduced, Nintendo indicated it would be available for a “limited time production through Fall 2025.” True to their word, the arrival of winter seems to have marked the end of this bundle’s availability.
According to a post by Nintendeal on Twitter, a leaked internal memo from a retailer states, “This bundle SKU has now reached end of lifecycle, and additional units will no longer be produced.” The memo suggests recommending this bundle to customers due to the savings, adding that “Future replenishment of Nintendo Switch 2 will be the base console.”
The retailer later confirmed via Twitter that the Mario Kart World Switch 2 Bundle will no longer be produced, encouraging customers to grab it “while supplies last.” As of now, the bundle is still listed on the Nintendo store website, indicating there may still be some stock available.
With Nintendo having released a Pokemon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 bundle earlier this year, it seems likely that other major titles—such as those from the Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, and Animal Crossing franchises—could also receive their own bundles with discounts on the included games in the future. Given Nintendo’s history of bundling Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the original Switch, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle return as a Black Friday deal down the line.
The latest update for Mario Kart World enhances the multiplayer experience, improves the intermission tracks, and finally lets players crank the soundtrack up to the only setting that matters: “Loud.”
