Geralt Returns in New DLC for The Witcher 3
The rumors have been confirmed: more content for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is on the horizon. On May 27, CD Projekt Red unveiled the upcoming expansion, titled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, set to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
Originally, the announcement was slated for the REDStreams event on May 28, but unexpected leaks prompted an earlier reveal. This highly anticipated expansion is being co-developed with Fool’s Theory, the Polish indie studio known for titles like The Thaumaturge and Seven: The Days Long Gone. They are also involved in the remake of the original The Witcher game.
As revealed, players will once again step into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia in this new DLC, which contrasts with The Witcher 4, where Ciri will take center stage. The DLC’s title hints that the story may unfold before the conclusion of The Witcher 3 or delve deeply into Geralt’s backstory. Regardless, fans around the globe will be thrilled to revisit a world inspired by Andrzej Sapkowski’s works.
What does this mean for The Witcher 4? There’s still a chance that CD Projekt Red could launch both the DLC and the new game in 2027, given that the expansion is a collaborative project. Fans will need to hold tight until late summer 2026 for more details on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past.
