Get 30% Off Preorders for the Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray of Evil Dead: Rise

Just like the relentless Deadites that haunt the heroes in the films, the Evil Dead franchise refuses to stay down for long. A new installment, Evil Dead: Burn, is on the horizon, but in the meantime, you can dive into one of the franchise’s spookiest entries with the upcoming Evil Dead: Rise Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray. Although the film hit Blu-ray in 2023, this fresh version is being released by Arrow Video on January 13. Preorders are currently available for $35, down from $50.

Evil Dead: Rise marks a significant shift for the series, trading the eerie woods for a seemingly ordinary apartment building in Los Angeles. The cursed Necronomicon plays a central role in this chilling tale of estranged sisters, unleashing flesh-possessing demons and forcing one family to confront a nightmarish version of motherhood. If you can’t wait for the Arrow Video edition, older Blu-ray versions are still available on Amazon. Keep in mind that both the 4K and standard Blu-rays lack special features, but if you’re just after the films, these older options are budget-friendly. However, we recommend holding out for the Arrow Video release, as the price difference is minimal and offers much more content.

The rest of the Evil Dead series is widely accessible on Blu-ray and DVD at mostly reasonable prices, with the exception of the original Evil Dead directed by Sam Raimi, which has become somewhat of a collectible due to low print runs. The other two films directed by Raimi are more affordable and come in various formats, including a stylish steelbook and Collector’s Editions for Army of Darkness.

The franchise made a resurgence in the 2010s, starting with a gory reboot from Fede Alvarez, director of Aliens: Romulus. This film has received two steelbook editions over the years and is also part of a 4K Collector’s Edition. Rounding out the collection is Ash vs Evil Dead, which continues the story from the original Raimi films, featuring Bruce Campbell as the charismatic Deadite-slayer, Ash Williams. The Blu-ray collection includes all three seasons of this horror-comedy, along with special features like featurettes, behind-the-scenes documentaries, and audio commentaries.
