Until Dawn 2 is on the way, featuring a team of ghost hunters venturing into a secluded island in hopes of going viral. Developed by Firesprite, this narrative-driven horror adventure is set to launch in 2027.

Even though it carries the Until Dawn name, this sequel will present a completely independent storyline with a fresh cast. The core concept remains intact: players will navigate through terrifying scenarios and make narrative choices to determine which characters can survive until dawn.

The game centers around a group of content creators who have secured a TV deal and are documenting their thrilling explorations of a tropical island. Sony has promised an enhanced choice system this time around. According to a PlayStation blog post, “How you manage relationships within the crew matters more than ever, with some branches based on where things stand between characters. It’s not just the huge moments; even small character interactions can trigger a Butterfly Effect, leading your story in unexpected directions.”

The trailer builds up to a pivotal moment where players can choose to jump alone or push a friend off a cliff, hinting at the sequel’s potential for subtlety in decision-making.

While the original Until Dawn was crafted by Supermassive Games, this new installment is in the hands of Firesprite. Acquired by Sony in 2021, the UK-based studio previously released Horizon Call of the Mountain for PS VR2 in 2023. Until Dawn 2 will mark their first new title in four years when it debuts in 2027.
