Get Ready for Xenoblade Genesis: Monolith’s Upcoming RPG Set for 2027
Today is a great day for fans of the Xenoblade series, especially with the exciting announcement of a new title: Xenoblade Genesis. This upcoming game promises to usher in a “new beginning” for the franchise, alongside updates for Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2, and 3 on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Xenoblade Genesis appears to take a fresh approach compared to its predecessors. While it retains familiar elements like a vast open world and a focus on scale, the story centers around an academy named Leukos, where the main character—a pink-haired girl whose name is yet to be revealed—attends as a student. She is a Vesselai, capable of harnessing Anima powers tied to water, fire, and wind, which shape the game’s universe. Additionally, she wields a Crystone embedded in her sword, enhancing her Anima abilities and serving as a record of her thoughts and actions, making it a key element of her life at Leukos.
The reveal also introduced several characters who will either ally with or oppose the protagonist, along with glimpses into the world’s mythology, featuring dragons and six suns. A stunning final shot showcases the two main characters racing across a sprawling field under a vast blue sky, hinting at a world that offers depth both horizontally and vertically.
Xenoblade Genesis is set to launch in 2027. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the Nintendo Switch 2 editions of Xenoblade 1, 2, and 3. Each game will run at 60fps with 4K resolution in TV mode or full HD in handheld mode, boasting enhanced visuals during cutscenes. New content is also on the way: Xenoblade 1 will introduce high-speed overworld vehicles, while the other two titles will feature new battle modes and quests. The upgraded digital edition of Xenoblade Chronicles will be available today, with its physical version releasing on July 30. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will launch digitally on July 30 and physically on October 1, while Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will see both versions released on December 3. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, but at least everything is set to arrive by the end of the year.
