Get ready: the next Kingdom Come game is arriving sooner than expected!

Warhorse Studios, known for the acclaimed Kingdom Come series of historical RPGs, has shed light on its recent tease of “a new Kingdom Come adventure.” Fans can look forward to an open-world RPG set to launch during the next fiscal year of Embracer Group.

On May 21, Warhorse hinted at both “a new Kingdom Come adventure” and “an open-world Middle-earth RPG.” While the announcement related to The Lord of the Rings generated excitement, the wording around the Kingdom Come tease left some fans puzzled, suggesting that the next installment might not follow the RPG format of its predecessors.

Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, the Communications Director at Warhorse Studios, quickly addressed these concerns during a livestream following the announcement, which was later shared on the developer’s official X account. He confirmed that the upcoming Kingdom Come title is indeed an “open-world RPG,” helmed by Prokop Jirsa, the lead designer of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Stolz-Zwilling noted that “if everything goes right, it comes next fiscal year.”

In essence, the next Kingdom Come game will maintain the structure of its predecessors and is expected to release between April 1, 2027, and March 31, 2028. Stolz-Zwilling emphasized that this wait will be significantly shorter than the seven-year gap between Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its sequel.

Currently, Warhorse Studios is keeping details about the newly announced games under wraps. However, it was revealed in March that the studio had laid off its Czech-to-English translator and editor, opting to replace their roles with AI translations. This upcoming Kingdom Come title will be the first to showcase how this decision affects the studio’s English-language localization.

For those eager to dive into the latest installment of the Kingdom Come series before the new game arrives, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is available on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. The release window for the studio’s Middle-earth RPG remains unannounced.
