Ghost of Yotei Legends, a major multiplayer expansion for Sucker Punch’s latest open-world adventure, is set to launch on March 10, featuring four-player co-op and six new bosses. This expansion will be free for all Yotei owners.

Revealed during the recent State of Play livestream, Ghost of Yotei Legends draws inspiration from Ghost of Tsushima’s Legends mode. Players will face off against the formidable Yotei Six, utilizing class-based abilities to battle massive bosses like spider, oni, kitsune, and snake demons.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sucker Punch’s senior communications manager Andrew Goldfarb confirmed that Yotei Legends will debut with three mission types.

Survival mode challenges four players to fend off “waves of increasingly difficult enemies on one of four maps” while competing for territory control.

The Story mode is designed for two players and features 12 missions, with every three missions unlocking an Incursion-type mission, which involves a large-scale four-player assault on a stronghold belonging to a member of the Yotei Six.

You might have noticed that the spider, oni, kitsune, and snake only represent two-thirds of the Yotei Six. Goldfarb mentioned that the remaining two will be introduced in a raid coming in April, where players can expect to confront the Dragon and Lord Saito himself.

As for classes, Yotei Legends offers samurai, archer, mercenary, and shinobi. While all four classes can wield katana and ranged weapons, each one specializes in different aspects of Ghost of Yōtei’s weapon and combat systems. Specifically, the classes can also utilize the odachi, spear, dual katanas, and kusarigama.

“Beyond the loot you earn as you level up, you can also acquire additional Legendary weapons and gear by tackling higher difficulty challenges,” Sucker Punch notes.

The PlayStation State of Play kicked off with exactly what I was hoping for: a brief glimpse of a Kena: Bridge of Spirits sequel, now backed by PlayStation Studios.
