Since its launch in October, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei, has quickly climbed the sales charts, outpacing its predecessor and making a significant impact for Sony.
During a recent quarterly financial call, CFO Lin Tao highlighted the impressive sales figures for both Ghost of Tsushima and its sequel. The supplemental data revealed that Ghost of Tsushima sold 2.4 million copies within its first three days and reached around five million in 128 days.
In contrast, Ghost of Yotei is making waves with over 3.3 million sales in just 32 days, surpassing the original’s performance in the same timeframe. This rapid success isn’t surprising, given the buzz surrounding its release.
Tao remarked on the sequel’s achievements, stating, “Ghost of Yotei, a tentpole title we released in October, exceeded the sales of the previous title in the same period of time and significantly contributed to the financial results of the quarter.” However, the current sales figures for Ghost of Yotei remain unclear.
Based on the CFO’s comments, it seems likely that sales are continuing to outpace those of Ghost of Tsushima. It raises the question of what game will steal the spotlight in the next quarter.
Final Fantasy 14’s Yoshi-P has praised Ghost of Yotei as “outstanding,” noting it’s “the one I still find myself playing” in 2025, adding, “It’s a game I learned a lot from.”
