God of War series casts Thor from Ragnarok as Kratos
Prime Video’s upcoming God of War series has cast Ryan Hurst in the lead role, a familiar voice to fans as he portrayed Thor in 2022’s God of War: Ragnarok. Hurst is also recognized for his performances as Gerry Bertier in Remember the Titans and Harry ‘Opie’ Winston in Sons of Anarchy.
The God of War franchise, which began in 2005, includes a total of 10 titles when counting spin-offs, browser games, and mobile versions. Kratos has emerged as a legendary figure in gaming, known for his gripping storylines and formidable presence as an unstoppable warrior.
According to Prime Video, “The titular character of the entire franchise, Kratos is Spartan by birth, and a god by nature. Raised in a martial culture, he rose to command armies in service of his homeland until one day he made a fateful deal with Ares, the Greek God of War and lost his soul in exchange for being victorious in battle.”
The series will follow the journey of Kratos and his son Atreus as they seek to fulfill the last wishes of their wife and mother, Faye, by spreading her ashes. Throughout their quest, Kratos aims to guide his son in becoming a better god, while Atreus endeavors to teach his father the ways of being a better human.
As of now, Prime Video has yet to announce a premiere date for the God of War series.
