Google’s 4K TV Streamer Now Available at a Discount, Also Functions as a Smart Home Hub

With March Madness and the Oscars in full swing, it’s the perfect moment to upgrade your TV setup. The Google TV Streamer 4K is currently available for $79.99, which is a $20 discount and just $5 above its lowest price ever.

As a streaming device, it excels. Setting it up is a breeze; we had it ready to go in about 10 minutes. The Google Home app even prompts you to select your streaming services and installs them automatically. Plus, it supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, enhancing both the visuals and audio for a more immersive experience.

Running on Google TV, it aggregates recommendations from all your streaming services and provides useful info like Rotten Tomatoes scores, along with suggestions from live and free channels. This is especially useful when you’re unsure of what to watch. The device also tailors recommendations based on your viewing habits and data from other Google services.

What truly distinguishes it from other streaming devices is its functionality as a smart home hub, featuring built-in support for Matter and Thread. This allows you to manage various smart home devices directly from the TV Streamer 4K. For example, you can adjust your lights using Google Assistant through the remote or the Google Home panel, and even check camera feeds on your TV. This is incredibly convenient when you’re in the middle of a show and need to adjust the thermostat or see who’s at the door without interrupting your viewing experience.
