Google’s Personalized Gemini AI Now Available to All Users in the US

Google has rolled out its Personal Intelligence feature to all users in the US, allowing them to link various Google apps for enhanced context in Gemini’s responses and suggestions. Previously, this feature was exclusive to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. Now, even free-tier users can access Personal Intelligence through AI Mode in Search, Gemini in Chrome, and the Gemini app. However, it’s important to note that this feature is only available for personal Google accounts, excluding business, enterprise, or education accounts.

Personal Intelligence leverages data from connected apps like YouTube, Google Photos, and Gmail to automatically tailor Gemini’s responses, eliminating the need for you to provide additional context in your prompts. With this feature enabled, Gemini can offer shopping suggestions based on your recent purchases or provide tech support based on device information it already has. One user noted that with personalization, “Gemini can analyze my interests and make some pretty good guesses about what I’d be interested in; it’s the details where AI gets lost.”

The feature remains opt-in, so if you prefer not to have Gemini utilize information from your other Google apps, you can simply keep it disabled. Google also mentioned that users can disconnect apps from Personal Intelligence at any time, clarifying that “Gemini and AI Mode don’t train directly on your Gmail inbox or Google Photos library. We train on limited info, like specific prompts in Gemini or AI Mode and the model’s responses.”
