Grab this retro action-platformer for free on Steam!

Ritual Games’ 2022 2D platformer, One Gun Guy, is currently available for free on Steam as part of a holiday sale.

Not to be confused with One-Punch Man, One Gun Guy is described by its developer as “a straight-forward, no-nonsense action platformer.” The game features a single “giant level” with one boss. You take on the role of the titular character armed with a gun, navigating through a vast level filled with character upgrades, hazards, coins to collect, and smaller enemies to defeat. It also offers multiple difficulty settings.

Completing One Gun Guy takes about 30 minutes, and its Steam user reviews currently reflect a “Mixed” rating. However, it’s free, and its stylish pixel art, sci-fi vibe, and charming 8-bit soundtrack make it a delightful way to spend half an hour while waiting for holiday treats to bake or cool.

If you want to snag the game for your library at no cost, you’ll need to act quickly—One Gun Guy’s free offer will end when the holiday sale wraps up on Dec. 18. After that, it will return to its regular price of $5, which isn’t a huge expense, but let’s be honest: games are always more enjoyable when they’re free. (Unless microtransactions are involved, of course.)
