GTA 6 Leak Saga Ends as Cyberleek Pulls $250,000, Causing Memecoin to Plummet

Over the past week, the leaks surrounding GTA 6 have taken a turn for the worse, primarily due to the leaker’s relentless push for a memecoin. Known as Cyberleek, this individual or group has plastered watermarks over the 15 unauthorized gameplay clips they’ve shared, along with half-hearted messages about the decline of physical media and, more prominently, a QR code urging viewers to invest in a crypto token called $CYBERLEEK. As the official reveal of Grand Theft Auto VI approaches on Netflix later today, it appears that the scheme may be winding down. Reports indicate that Cyberleek has withdrawn around $250,000, which has sent the coin’s value into a tailspin, hinting that the leaks may be finished.

According to a breakdown by a user on a gaming forum, Cyberleek transferred nearly $250,000 into various cyber wallets early on August 27, causing the coin’s value to drop significantly. However, this doesn’t seem to follow the typical rug pull pattern. Instead, it appears a more strategic approach was taken to inflate the coin’s value before these withdrawals.

Memecoins often follow a predictable cycle. A new coin is created, insiders buy it at a low price to create hype, then sell it at a premium to unsuspecting investors, ultimately cashing out at what they believe is the peak. This leaves latecomers holding a devalued asset.

In this case, however, Cyberleek and their associates “burned” their unsold reserves (270 million tokens) to create the illusion of legitimacy, suggesting they weren’t planning a rug pull. The quarter-million dollars was accumulated from transaction fees (also in $CYBERLEEK tokens) generated during the final week of trading, fueled by the steady stream of leaks.

Now, $CYBERLEEK is in freefall, having peaked at $0.034 but now languishing below $0.005, marking an 86% decline. The coin’s market cap has plummeted from $23.39 million to just $3.23 million, leaving those still holding the tokens scrambling to sell as news spreads.

The transactions have been traced to three different platforms, including one known for its privacy features, making it difficult to track the funds. This operation seems to have been meticulously planned.

The big question is whether it was worth it. While $250,000 is a significant sum, a traditional rug pull could have potentially yielded more, but the project appeared to be designed as a scam from the start, making investors cautious. By burning the reserves (valued at over a million dollars), Cyberleek created the impression of a long-term vision for the token, allowing transaction fees to accumulate and likely resulting in a more substantial payout than a quick exit would have provided. However, the companies behind the game are determined to identify those responsible, and authorities can trace these transactions, meaning any missteps could lead to serious consequences.

This situation also raises questions about how Cyberleek obtained these leaks. If they truly had access to the full code, as they claimed, stating it was a “recent” build and that “the game is not ready at all,” why would they stop now, especially with the Netflix reveal on the horizon? Why were there no mission or story details? Why was there no gameplay footage featuring Lucia? The leaks culminated in a single cutscene from the prologue, which raises suspicions about either limited access to the code or a lack of comprehensive tester builds.

Additionally, the increasingly desperate watermarked messages pleading for support for the token suggest that their resources may have been dwindling. The final message was particularly cringeworthy, feigning concern for the crunch faced by Rockstar employees while simultaneously stating, “Trading volume/price is how CL measures your support. CL will not continue without support. You decide.” Ultimately, it seems that after one last push, they made their own decision to cash out.
