GTA 6 Leaks Continue Despite Rockstar’s Disheartening Reaction
On Wednesday morning, Rockstar Games finally addressed the ongoing leaks surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6, which have been attributed to a hacking group known as Cyberleek. The developer described the situation as “heartbreaking,” emphasizing that the unauthorized and unrefined clips do not reflect how they wanted fans to experience the game. Just an hour after Rockstar’s statement, and a day before a major reveal, Cyberleek released yet another video of GTA 6.
In this latest clip, players see Jason, one of the game’s co-protagonists, breaking into a car and pulling the driver out before taking off in the stolen vehicle. The video concludes with a brief cutscene featuring Lucia Caminos, the other main playable character, who had been absent from previous leaks, leading to speculation that the hackers hadn’t progressed far in the game. This cutscene, which takes place inside a bar, lasts only a few seconds.
While the content of the leak is relatively mild, it showcases Cyberleek’s audacious stance against Rockstar. Before this release, the group had threatened to continue leaking content unless the studio reversed its decision to launch GTA 6 without a physical disc. They have shared additional rough gameplay clips, some of which seem to mock Rockstar.
The situation escalated in late August when Cyberleek urged fans to protest at Rockstar’s or Take-Two’s offices against the decision to forgo a physical disc for GTA 6. Although Rockstar did not disclose any security measures in response to the threat, a few individuals reportedly showed up at the offices, some even bringing vegetables as a form of protest.
This latest leak could indicate a more significant breach of information from the hacking group. Up to now, most of the footage has been impressive yet random, with the hackers avoiding major story spoilers. With a major reveal from Netflix just a day away, Cyberleek’s ability to dominate the conversation around GTA 6 gameplay is diminishing. Sharing story spoilers could be a tactic to maintain visibility and potentially boost the trading volume of the crypto coin linked to this situation.
The latest leak encourages viewers to increase the crypto coin’s trading volume to $50 million, promising to release footage of the hackers driving through crowded beach areas in a bus if that goal is met. As of now, 15 separate clips of GTA 6 have been leaked, a significantly smaller number compared to the 50 videos that surfaced in 2023. The boldness of this recent breach, coupled with Rockstar’s struggle to contain the leaks, has contributed to a growing notoriety surrounding the situation.
Fan votes have led to gameplay clips featuring a strip club and a nudist town.
