GTA 6 Likely Won’t Feature a Disney World Spoof

In a recent preview of Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar was asked about the possibility of iconic central Florida locations like Disney World or Orlando making an appearance in the highly anticipated open-world game. The response suggests that fans shouldn’t expect a virtual road trip to a parody version of Disney World.

As part of a detailed 14-page preview, questions were raised about central Florida sites, including Orlando and Disney World, as well as the east coast’s NASA Space Center and the Space Force base in Cape Canaveral. These locations haven’t been showcased in any official gameplay footage, screenshots, or trailers. Rockstar’s senior vice president of environment art, Paul MacPherson, indicated that these specific landmarks are unlikely to be featured in the game’s expansive world.

“We have to constantly evaluate the diversity of landscapes, towns, structures, landmarks, vistas, plant species, rock formations, and everything else before we work with design and narrative to distill a list down that best works with and serves the game’s needs,” MacPherson explained. “So, while we may not have those exact locations, everything we have is geared to getting that full Florida experience!”

This leaves open the possibility that some elements of central or eastern Florida, perhaps a theme park or a space operations base, could be included in some capacity in GTA 6. However, it seems to close the door on the notion of a major Disney World parody or a version of Orlando for players to wreak havoc in when the game launches on November 19. That said, there are hints that Disney will be parodied in some way, as a Minnie Mouse-style character was spotted in the gameplay reveal, seemingly linked to Fred’s Pictures, an in-universe Disney-like company first mentioned in GTA V.

Regardless, it appears that certain aspects of central Florida will indeed be represented in the game. Official marketing materials have hinted at a large alligator-themed park that seems inspired by Gatorland, a well-known gator-filled amusement park and zoo located south of Orlando. I visited it as a kid when I lived in Florida, and it’s definitely a unique place. I even tried gator meat there for the first time—it was surprisingly tasty.

In any case, its inclusion suggests that Rockstar is not overlooking central Florida but is instead integrating elements of it into their digital version of the state.

We won’t have to wait long to dive into the vast map of Grand Theft Auto 6. The game is set to launch on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox. I’ll be making a trip to Gatorland as soon as I can!
