GTA Online’s upcoming update reintroduces a familiar character from GTA 5.

The upcoming update for GTA Online is set to bring back a familiar face: Michael De Santa, the protagonist from Grand Theft Auto 5. New details about the A Safehouse in the Hills update have been unveiled, revealing that players will encounter an older, somewhat grumpier Michael at the center of the new storyline.

Players will find themselves as neighbors to the De Santas, with Michael and his wife welcoming them to the area in the latest trailer. As players dive into the update’s narrative, Michael will play a significant role in the unfolding criminal escapades, much to the excitement of the community.

“SEEING MICHAEL AGAIN IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING EVER,” one fan commented on the trailer. Many players have noted that Michael’s slightly older appearance, complete with more gray hair, seems to reinforce the “Deathwish” ending of Grand Theft Auto 5 as canon, where all three protagonists survive. Trevor and Franklin are also expected to make appearances in GTA Online.

“I love the way they reintroduce Michael so nonchalantly, as if this isn’t pretty much the first time since 2013 we actually see or hear about him,” remarked another fan. “Dude can finally vent to someone that doesn’t talk back.”

A Safehouse in the Hills is set to launch on December 10. This update promises players a “painstakingly crafted palace” in one of Los Santos’ most exclusive neighborhoods, featuring stunning views, top-notch amenities, and numerous customization options. The new mansion properties will include a virtual assistant, trophy cabinets for showcasing achievements, a private salon, animal kennels, a garage, and an optional private security detail.

Additionally, GTA Online will introduce new missions focused on dismantling a mass surveillance network, along with a variety of new vehicles to drive, earn, steal, and destroy. More information about A Safehouse in the Hills can be found on the developer’s website.

A Safehouse in the Hills will be available on all currently supported platforms for GTA Online: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
