GuliKit Unveils Next-Gen Anti-Drift Thumbsticks for Switch Controller
GuliKit has rolled out its first wireless controller featuring an enhanced version of the anti-drift tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) thumbsticks, building on the technology introduced in last year’s budget-friendly ES Pro. Priced at $49.99, the new GuliKit ES Max is a step up from the $29.99 ES Pro, yet remains more affordable than Nintendo’s Switch 2 Pro Controller, all while delivering additional features and functionality without the stick drift issues that affected the original Switch.
The TMR thumbsticks in the ES Max don’t completely overhaul the existing technology but instead refine how stick movement is measured for better performance. Traditional TMR technology relies on a sensor that detects changes in distance to a magnet that shifts in response to stick movements.
In contrast, the new TMR system measures the rotational angle of a nearby magnet as it moves with the stick, maintaining a consistent magnetic field strength. This results in more accurate readings, leading to thumbsticks that are precise, responsive, and stable.
The ES Max is compatible with all Nintendo Switch models, as well as Windows and macOS PCs, iOS and Android devices, and Steam. Notable upgrades include two remappable buttons on the back, interchangeable thumbstick caps, and Hall-effect linear triggers that can switch to micro-switches for quicker travel and faster response times. GuliKit is also including a Hyperlink 2 Bluetooth adapter, which promises lower latency when using the ES Max wirelessly, along with the launch of its first mobile app for customizing, configuring, and updating its controllers.
