Hades 2 boasts an impressive script with over 400,000 words and 30,000 voice lines, featuring 50% more content than its predecessor.
Hades 2, much like its predecessor, is a roguelike that offers a vast array of buildcrafting possibilities. However, this sequel also boasts an impressive narrative depth, with some stats that are truly jaw-dropping.
In a recent discussion, the creative director mentioned that “Hades 2, like the original, is a game that can technically be played forever, so I can understand the desire for it to include even more story!” This highlights the game’s potential for endless exploration.
For those unfamiliar, both Hades titles weave themes of death and the cyclical nature of roguelikes into their storytelling. The Greek gods we encounter in each run remember our past interactions, often providing fresh dialogue even after numerous playthroughs.
To support this rich narrative, the developer packed the game with an extensive script. “The game has a script of more than 400,000 words, and more than 30,000 voice lines — around 50% more than the original game,” the director revealed. “That includes every major detail we wanted to include for our cast of characters.”
When discussing characters like Heracles and Prometheus, the director noted, “if you haven’t yet reached the game’s epilogue and continued encountering them sometime after that, then it’s likely you haven’t seen all they have to say or what other characters may have to say about them.” So, keep pushing forward.
Hades 2 has been recognized as one of the standout games of 2025. It’s currently available on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with a physical edition now released.
I was among the first to experience Hades 2’s true ending, and I’m still processing how Supergiant has redefined the narrative.
