This summer is shaping up to be anything but dull for gamers. Halo Studios has finally revealed the release date for Halo: Campaign Evolved during the recent Xbox Games Showcase. Mark your calendars for July 28, as it will be available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, perfectly positioned in a clear window for game launches.
This marks the first new Halo title since 2021’s Halo Infinite. As the name implies, Halo: Campaign Evolved is a remake of the beloved single-player mode from 2001’s Halo: Combat Evolved. While it will feature a cooperative campaign, competitive multiplayer won’t be part of the package. Notably, this is the first Halo game crafted using Unreal Engine 5, serving as a test for the studio’s future development plans for the franchise.
Fans can expect the return of gameplay-altering skulls, with more options than ever before in the series, along with three brand-new story missions to dive into. The trailer showcased at the Xbox Games Showcase hinted at the inclusion of elements not present in the original Combat Evolved, such as Brutes and additional weapons.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is launching at a time when Xbox is revitalizing its most iconic franchises. With Forza Horizon 6 having launched in May and new entries in the Gears of War and Fable series on the horizon, this remake of the original Halo feels like a strategic move to tap into nostalgia and remind players why they fell in love with this classic shooter series.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is set to release on July 28 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
