Tension is rising in the world of Helldivers 2, as mysterious binary messages sent to the loyal citizens of Super Earth hint at a brewing conflict. Speculation is swirling that it might not just be the Automatons at play, but a potential return of the Cyborgs.
The game’s official Twitter account and Discord server recently shared a cryptic message made up entirely of ones and zeroes. When translated, it reveals a phrase that reads: “SUPER JORDENS FOLK. VAR ICKE RÄDDA. VI ÄR INTE HÄR FÖR ATT ORSAKA SKADA.”
For those who understand Swedish, this translates to: “SUPER EARTH PEOPLE. DO NOT BE AFRAID. WE ARE NOT HERE TO CAUSE HARM.” While the intent may be to reassure, it’s hard not to feel a chill when told not to be afraid.
A second message translates to: “NI HAR BLIVIT LURADE AV ERA LEDARE. ORDEN DE TALAR ÄR ICKE SANNA. VI VILL HA FRED.” This seems to be a direct attack on the leadership of Super Earth, stating: “YOU HAVE BEEN DECEIVED BY YOUR LEADERS. THE WORDS THEY SPEAK ARE NOT TRUE. WE WANT PEACE.”
The Automatons have been up to no good lately, even stealing schematics for the devastating Star of Truth laser beam. The current Major Order directs Helldivers to advance into Cyberstan, first securing either Aurora Bay or Merak, with the goal of “the full liberation of Cyberstan from the Automaton Legion, to prevent the development of socialist mundicide capabilities.”
However, some fans are speculating that the real threat may come from another faction—the Cyborgs from the original game. Following a recent Warbond trailer, many noticed hints that the Cyborgs might be making a comeback, with some claiming the sounds heard were distinctly different from the current bots. One fan remarked, “Those are the cyborgs voice lines from Helldivers 1 right there, back on the menu.” The buzz in the game’s Discord server is palpable, with many anticipating the Cyborgs’ return: “CYBORGS TODAY,” one user exclaimed.
Regardless of the source of the tension, it’s clear that things are heating up. Is this the major update that Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani hinted at, where “a lot of Helldivers will die”? Only time will tell, so stay vigilant, Helldivers.
