Hidden Fallout: New Vegas Content Unearthed from Xbox 360 Dev Kit Sparks New Mods for Fans

A few weeks back, an organization focused on uncovering and reviving canceled video games and prototypes released files for a beta version of Fallout: New Vegas found on an Xbox 360 dev kit. Since then, modders have been hard at work restoring the cut content and finishing up elements that the original developers left incomplete.

Two dev kits from Obsidian were unearthed, packed with hundreds of files related to Fallout: New Vegas and its DLC. Among these, the most intriguing was a beta version dated just a month before the final build was completed. The game had a notoriously tight development schedule, resulting in many features being scrapped right before launch. NPCs, quests, and even romance options were cut to meet the October release deadline.

As noted by some in the community, modders are already deep into the restoration of this beta content, with various individuals tackling different aspects of the game. A collection of the larger mods has been compiled under the title Beta Restored by a user, with many of these mods completed by them. These include the revival of old textures, environmental designs, and NPCs, such as a version of Mr. House inspired by Marilyn Monroe. Since some features were missing from the beta, particularly voice lines, these have also been recreated and integrated into the mods.

One of the standout additions is a mod that brings back a side quest called I Got A Rite!, which lets players join the Great Khans after defeating four of them in hand-to-hand combat. While the quest seems to have been finished, joining the clan didn’t provide any benefits, suggesting that there was likely more planned for players after completing this quest. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, those plans never made it into the final game.
