Hideo Kojima Shares Enthusiastic Thoughts on Avatar: Fire and Ash and Its Influence on His Future Projects

Hideo Kojima, known for his love of cinema, often shares his thoughts on films through his Twitter account. His reactions typically fall into two categories: a brief review suggests he wasn’t impressed, while a more detailed response indicates his enthusiasm. Recently, he expressed his admiration for James Cameron’s “Avatar: Fire and Ash” with a lengthy, passionate review.

Kojima praised the film for its meticulous attention to detail, stating, “This film shows absolutely no compromise, right down to the finest details, in the construction of the Avatar ‘universe.’ It was magnificent.” He drew parallels between Cameron’s cinematic achievements and his own creative journey, emphasizing the blend of entertainment, art, and cutting-edge technology.

In a world increasingly dominated by AI, Kojima highlighted the importance of the human touch in filmmaking. He noted the rising appreciation for analog films and the misconceptions surrounding digital creations. “CG works are also created by people. Countless actors, artists, and programmers pour their thoughts and passion into them, breathing life into the work,” he remarked.

Kojima concluded his thoughts by expressing how the film reignited his pride and motivation for future projects, thanking Cameron for the inspiration.

Reflecting on his own journey, Kojima has recently opened up about his mortality, especially after turning 60 and facing health challenges during the pandemic. He admitted feeling a sense of urgency to accomplish his goals, even keeping a USB drive filled with game ideas for the future.

Fortunately, Kojima continues to work on new projects, including “Physint” and “OD,” featuring Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer. His experience with “Fire and Ash” seems to fuel his desire to innovate and explore the intersection of technology and gaming, which is promising for fans.

“Avatar: Fire and Ash” is currently in theaters.
