“Highguard 5v5 is Officially Here to Stay, and Players Couldn’t Be Happier!”

When I jumped into my first Highguard game last week, my immediate thought was that the map could definitely accommodate more players. The 3v3 raid mode was enjoyable, but the expansive layout seemed perfect for 4v4, 5v5, or even 6v6 matches. It turns out I wasn’t alone in this sentiment, as the developers quickly introduced what was initially labeled a “limited-time” 5v5 mode, which has now been confirmed as a permanent addition.

On social media, the developers noted that the player count for 5v5 over the weekend was comparable to that of the original 3v3 mode, which was all the confirmation they needed to make the change.

“You’ve been asking, and we’re happy to share—5v5 Raid Mode is here to stay!” they announced. “We appreciate everyone hopping in over the weekend to give the mode a try. We saw a fairly even split between 3v3 and 5v5, which helped inform our decision.”

The community’s reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. A Reddit post celebrating the news has already garnered nearly 200 upvotes within its first hour. “5v5 is permanent everyone!!! I’m so happy right now!” it exclaimed.

“YESSSSSS WE ARE SO FAR BACK TO PEAK THAT WE NEVER EVEN LEFT IT,” one enthusiastic reply stated. “5v5 absolutely rocks.”

Another player noted, “It definitely made a very big difference. Matches were more fast-paced and frantic. There’s still a lot of issues I have with the game, but this is a good step.”

As I browsed through the social media responses, it became clear that while the original 3v3 mode still holds value—especially for those who prefer a slower, more strategic gameplay experience—the 5v5 mode offers a more intense and rapid-fire action, which makes sense given the tighter spaces.

I was actually considering uninstalling Highguard soon, but now I think I’ll hold off until I can dive into the 5v5 mode, especially since it’s here to stay. I can’t say for sure it will change my overall opinion of the game, but it definitely has potential, especially since my main concern was the map size.
