Highlights to Anticipate at Xbox’s Summer Showcase Event

This year marks a significant milestone for Xbox, celebrating 25 years, and the upcoming Xbox Digital Showcase is poised to deliver some exciting surprises and announcements. This event is particularly noteworthy as it’s the first major showcase since Asha Sharma took the helm as CEO, succeeding Phil Spencer. Sharma has been vocal about reconnecting with long-time Xbox fans and returning to the brand’s roots, making this showcase a key moment for unveiling her vision for the next year.

If you’re a fan of Xbox or franchises like Gears of War or Fallout, this is definitely an event to tune into. Here’s what you need to know about the showcase timing, viewing options, and what to anticipate (and what to temper your expectations about) during one of Xbox’s most significant events of the year.

The main Xbox Showcase kicks off at 1 p.m. EST (check your local time). Following that, the Gears of War: E-Day Direct will start “immediately after” the main showcase.

You have several ways to catch the event. It will be streamed in 4k60 on YouTube, as well as on Twitch, Facebook, Amazon Live, and Amazon Prime Video. An ASL version will also be available. Additionally, Xbox will stream the event on Steam and Bilibili in China, with the Gears of War: E-Day Direct following on the same platforms.

Here’s what we can confirm: the next installment in the Gears of War series, the prequel titled Gears of War: E-Day, will definitely be featured. That’s the only certainty from Xbox ahead of Sunday. Expect to see some gameplay during the main showcase, with a deeper dive during the Direct afterward. We might even get a release date—will E-Day still launch this year, or will it be pushed back like Fable to 2027?

There are several major titles still set to release this year that lack specific dates, so it’s likely we’ll see some of them here, including Halo: Campaign Evolved and Minecraft Dungeons II.

Clockwork Revolution, the upcoming title from InXile Entertainment, could also make an appearance with a new trailer. And there’s a chance we might finally hear more about State of Decay 3, which has been teased since 2020. Plus, there have been whispers about Toys for Bob working on a new Spyro game, which could be revealed during the event.

Bethesda might be ready to showcase the long-rumored Fallout 3 remaster, possibly even with a surprise release, similar to the Oblivion Remastered drop. However, the lack of concrete leaks as the event approaches suggests we should temper our expectations. Bethesda could also provide updates on Arkane’s Blade game or tease the next Wolfenstein from MachineGames. Meanwhile, Activision is gearing up for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which we can expect to see more of during the showcase.

Don’t hold your breath for any updates on Project Helix, the next Xbox console, as the company has already stated this showcase won’t cover previously announced hardware. Similarly, Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 are unlikely to make an appearance, as Xbox is focusing this show on the near future. But who knows? Maybe the Fallout 3 remaster will surprise us!
