Hollow Knight: Silksong and Schedule 1 Join Elden Ring and Arc Raiders Among Top Sellers on Steam for 2025
As part of its annual tradition, Valve has unveiled its year-end charts showcasing the top-selling Steam games of 2025. This year, indie titles are making a significant impact alongside the usual blockbuster franchises.
The Steam chart highlights the highest-grossing new releases from this calendar year, with 12 games achieving the prestigious Platinum tier. Here’s the list of the top 12 Steam games of 2025 based on revenue, presented in no particular order:
Among the year’s top earners, only three games are strictly single-player: Hollow Knight Silksong, Oblivion Remastered, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. This is quite remarkable considering the revenue-based rankings, especially since these titles don’t rely on endless microtransactions or battle passes.
Even more noteworthy is that two indie games, Hollow Knight Silksong and Schedule 1, outperformed numerous AAA titles this year without the backing of a publisher, a multi-million dollar budget, or a full-price tag. Both games typically retail for around $20, meaning they had to sell millions more copies to match the revenue of their $60-70 counterparts.
In the Gold tier, game of the year winner Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Doom: The Dark Ages made the cut, despite being available on Game Pass. This tier also includes this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which didn’t surpass its main competitor, Battlefield 6, in the charts. While COD is also accessible on battle.net, the exact sales comparison between these two major shooters remains unclear.
