Honda’s Latest Car Features PS5 Gaming Capability
Gaming on the go has been a favorite among players for years, and now Sony and Honda are joining forces to bring the PlayStation 5 experience to the road. In 2022, the two companies launched a joint venture called Sony Honda Mobility to develop electric vehicles. Their inaugural model, the Afeela 1, is set to hit the market next year and will feature the ability to play PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games. However, there are some limitations with the Afeela In-Vehicle Infotainment systems. Instead of including in-car consoles, Sony and Honda are utilizing PlayStation Remote Play, meaning Afeela 1 owners will need to have a PS5 or PS4 at home to connect and play. It’s important to note that this Remote Play functionality is distinct from streaming PS Plus games from the cloud. The Afeela In-Vehicle Infotainment system will come equipped with an integrated display and premium audio systems for passengers. It’s still uncertain whether the cars will include a PlayStation controller or if players will need to bring their own. “The introduction of PS Remote Play embodies Afeela’s vision for mobility: transforming the traveling space into a captivating and emotional one,” stated Sony Honda Mobility COO Izumi Kawanishi. “Through this integration, we are elevating the customer’s entire travel experience to an unprecedented level of entertainment.” The Afeela 1 will first be available in California before expanding nationwide, but aside from a 2026 release window, a specific on-sale date has yet to be announced.
