After three thrilling seasons, the popular college drama series has concluded with its third season, just as it was gaining significant traction.

The showrunner announced the news on social media, stating, “After three incredible seasons, tonight’s episode will be the series finale. This was always the ending my team and I envisioned, and we are immensely proud of it.” The final episode aired on February 17, 2026.

The abrupt ending has surprised many, especially as the show was gaining popularity internationally. However, the showrunner explained that while there was a desire to find a way to continue the story, the team ultimately felt it had reached its natural conclusion. “My main goal has always been to maintain the quality of the show and provide the best experience possible,” they added.

The series follows college students Lucy and Stephen and their tumultuous relationship, which profoundly impacts their lives and those around them. Set primarily in 2008 at Baird University, it also features flashforwards to 2015, showcasing the long-lasting effects of their college years.

The first season premiered on September 7, 2022, and received positive feedback, achieving a solid 75% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Since then, viewership has only increased. Reports indicate that the third season garnered 5 million views globally within its first week, a 150% increase from previous seasons. Additionally, the show’s social media engagement surged by 580%.

Given these impressive numbers, it’s surprising that the show is concluding at its peak, especially when other platforms might capitalize on its success. However, this situation is refreshing; instead of dragging it out, the platform demonstrates a keen understanding of when to step back, a lesson other networks could learn from.
