Hytale Launches First Hotfix to Address Game-Crashing Bug Just Hours After Release

Hytale has rolled out its first hotfix just a day after launch, addressing critical issues that were causing crashes, particularly with character customization, and ensuring that players in Norway can finally access the game.

In anticipation of a rocky launch, the Hytale team has been proactive, implementing this hotfix shortly after the game went live. The developers shared details about the updates on their official site, which include fixes for authentication problems and general stability enhancements, along with some specific bug resolutions.

One notable fix addresses a crash that could happen when players selected certain hairstyles followed by eyebrows during character creation. Additionally, there were fixes for crashes occurring during screenshot captures and when using buckets. Importantly, the hotfix resolved an issue that prevented Norwegian players from launching Hytale, a point the developers specifically acknowledged.

After a lengthy development journey that included a sale to Riot Games, a reboot, a cancellation, and a revival, Hytale finally launched this week. Since being acquired by Hypixel founder Simon Collins-Laflamme, the marketing approach has been refreshingly candid, with warnings to players about potential launch day chaos.

With expectations of “over 1 million players” on day one—an estimate that was likely surpassed, as Collins-Laflamme noted a “VERY HIGH rate of new Hytale players”—the foresight to prepare for issues was undoubtedly wise.

While the Hytale roadmap “isn’t completely pre-planned,” features like friend lists and proximity chat are already in the works.
