Hytale’s lead developer reveals that the game’s 50-person team is fully funded for the next two years thanks to pre-orders, just a day before launch.

The highly anticipated early access launch of Hytale is just around the corner, and the outlook for this sandbox adventure is already looking promising. Simon Collins-Laflamme, the game’s lead, has revealed that pre-orders have successfully funded the next two years of development.

In a tweet, Collins-Laflamme expressed his excitement, stating, “I’m pleased to announce that we have officially secured the next two years of development costs through pre-purchases.” He added, “Combined with my personal commitment of ten years, we are looking very strong for the future,” accompanied by a heart emoji.

Fans have several pre-order options, starting with a $20 USD standard edition, along with the Supporter edition at $35 and the Cursebreaker Founder’s Edition at $70. All three versions grant access to the game upon its launch on January 13, with the higher-tier editions offering increasingly elaborate cosmetic packs.

“Hytale is saved,” Collins-Laflamme concluded, thanking fans for their support and echoing his earlier sentiments from November when he reclaimed the game from Riot. “We are almost home.”

In a follow-up tweet, he mentioned that the Hytale development team consists of “50+ or so” members. Securing two years of funding, which includes salaries for all developers, represents a significant financial achievement.

Earlier this week, Collins-Laflamme projected that Hytale could attract 1 million players at launch, cautioning that players should be prepared for potential server issues on day one.

He also noted that Hytale won’t be launching on Steam initially due to concerns about the platform, a sentiment echoed by the lead of Palworld, who completely understands the hesitation.
