Hytale’s upcoming update set to introduce dungeons and significant enhancements.
The sandbox game Hytale has made a notable entrance into the gaming scene. Following its cancellation by Riot in June 2025, the original developers at Hypixel Studios reclaimed the rights and launched the game in Early Access this January. Hytale has reportedly surpassed the studio’s expectations, with lead designer Simon Collins-Laflamme initially predicting over 1 million players on launch day.
In the months since its release, Hytale has received several smaller updates, but the most significant one is on the horizon. Chapter 1 is set to drop on October 12, 2026, focusing heavily on handcrafted encounters and goblins.
The trailer showcases the game’s first handcrafted dungeon: a goblin cavern located underground. Players who make it to the end will face off against a mecha goblin boss armed with a flamethrower, featuring multiple phases. The update announcement detailed the new Encounter Manager, which allows both developers and players to create unique encounters and boss battles. One of the standout features of Hytale is its extensive server customization, enabling players to craft their own content. In fact, one player has even created a mod that transforms the game into a version reminiscent of Pokémon FireRed.
Chapter 1 will also introduce Goblin Breaches, which are world events that temporarily open portals to distant biomes filled with loot. Additionally, players can look forward to new goblin gadgets, including rocket boots, gliders, drills, and a hookshot.
A revamped rune and ability system is another exciting addition. Players can equip an ability rune and enhance it with two modifier runes. For example, a fireball ability rune can be modified to include a shock effect and split into two projectiles. The developer’s blog emphasizes their goal of providing RPG-style depth while maintaining the freedom of a sandbox experience, allowing for diverse playstyles rather than forcing players into a single optimal build or class.
While Hytale shares similarities with Minecraft, Hypixel Studios is clearly aiming to carve out its own identity through a focus on creator tools and RPG elements. Given the game’s growing popularity, this strategy appears to be resonating with players.
At first glance, PokeWorld Online is nearly indistinguishable from classic Pokémon.
