Iman Vellani Gives Wonder Man 4.5 Stars, Notes Absence of “Kevins and/or Feiges”

Iman Vellani, known for her role as Ms. Marvel, might just be the biggest fan of the MCU, and she’s eager for you to dive into Wonder Man.

This new series centers on Simon Williams, an aspiring actor aiming to land a role in a remake of the superhero flick Wonder Man, all while navigating a Hollywood that has banned superpowered performers. The twist? Simon has powers of his own…

“Watch Wonder Man,” Vellani posted on her Letterboxd, punctuating her enthusiasm with clapping emojis between each word. “And if that’s not enough to convince you, let me tickle your inner skeptic with a list!”

Her reasons for tuning in are pretty compelling, suggesting that Wonder Man brings back the MCU’s core charm:

“- If you enjoy movies, watch Wonder Man.

– If you’re into films about films, watch Wonder Man.

– If you’re a fan of Midnight Cowboy, watch Wonder Man.

– If you’ve seen every Marvel movie or none at all, watch Wonder Man.

– If you like your superheroes to be more human than super, watch Wonder Man.

– If you have a soft spot for buddy comedies with mentorship themes, watch Wonder Man.

– If you’ve forgotten what sincerity feels like, watch Wonder Man.

– If you miss Ben Kingsley’s iconic “Uh-merica” delivery, watch Wonder Man.

– If you’re looking for something that’s easygoing and not overloaded with lore, watch Wonder Man.

– If you appreciate great music choices, watch Wonder Man.

– If you long for the days when the MCU felt grounded, quirky, and a bit melancholic, or if you’ve sensed something missing lately, congratulations. You’ve found it. Watch Wonder Man.

– If you enjoy projects made by people who genuinely care for an audience that truly cares – watch Wonder Man.

That’s all I’ve got. To sum it up… WWM!”

Vellani also wants to clarify that her enthusiasm isn’t just because she’s part of the MCU, adding, “(Note: This message was written under the pure influence of joy. No Kevins and/or Feiges are currently present.)”

We last saw Vellani in The Marvels, but it’s uncertain when she’ll appear next, as she’s not part of the massive cast for Avengers: Doomsday.

Our own review of Wonder Man gives it 4.5 stars, stating: “Wonder Man stands out in the MCU as a warm and witty buddy comedy set in Hollywood. It may be low on superpowers, but it’s rich in charm, using this universe to tell a touching story of two outsiders striving to chase their dreams against all odds.”

Wonder Man is currently streaming on Disney Plus. For more insights, check out our deep dive into the finale.
