In 2025, live service games took the spotlight, with nearly all of the top 10 bestsellers on PlayStation and Xbox being multiplayer titles, leaving Ghost of Yotei as the sole single-player entry.
The list of best-selling PS5 games in the US for 2025 has shown that only one non-live service title made it into the top ten.
Industry analyst Mat Piscatella has revealed the top ten best-selling PlayStation games of 2025, and as noted by a user on ResetEra, live service games continue to dominate the charts.

Leading the pack is NBA 2K26, followed closely by Battlefield 6 in second place, while PlayStation’s own Ghost of Yotei secured the third spot. Yotei stands out as the only non-live service game in the top ten, which is otherwise filled with Call of Duty and sports titles. Notably, Microsoft claimed three spots with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and 7, along with Forza Horizon 5, while Sony’s representation was limited to Ghost of Yotei and MLB: The Show 25.
On the Xbox side, the trend remains similar, with all ten spots occupied by live service games. Surprisingly, Black Ops 7 barely made it into the top ten, alongside WWE 2K25, Monster Hunter Wilds, Borderlands 4, and Sony’s Helldivers 2.

Nintendo, while not heavily focused on traditional live service games, also had a strong year for multiplayer titles, with Pokemon Legends Z-A, Mario Kart 8 and World, Minecraft, and Kirby Air Riders all making the top ten. Meanwhile, the PC scene showcased a diverse lineup, featuring single-player hits like Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Oblivion Remastered.
Battlefield 6 not only topped the charts on Xbox and PC but also secured the number two position on PlayStation, marking it as one of the year’s standout performers. A surprising highlight is that Monster Hunter Wilds achieved its best performance on PC, despite its rocky launch. This underscores the ongoing trend of companies pursuing the lucrative live service model.
Final Fantasy 14’s Yoshi-P praised Ghost of Yotei as “outstanding,” noting it’s the 2025 game “I still find myself playing.”
