Iran Issues Warning to OpenAI’s Stargate Data Center in Abu Dhabi

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has released a video warning of repercussions for OpenAI’s upcoming data center in Abu Dhabi if the US acts on its threats against the nation’s power infrastructure. This video, shared on an Iranian state-backed news outlet’s X account on April 3rd, declares that the IRGC will execute the “complete and utter annihilation” of US-affiliated energy and tech firms in the area, featuring an image of OpenAI’s $30 billion Stargate facility currently under construction in the UAE.

OpenAI’s ambitious $500 billion Stargate initiative involves backing from major players like Oracle, Nvidia, Cisco, and SoftBank. The extent of the Abu Dhabi data center’s completion remains uncertain; however, an update from October 2025 indicated that initial construction was progressing well, with plans to achieve 200 megawatts of operational capacity by 2026. OpenAI has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the situation.

The IRGC’s video includes what seems to be satellite imagery of OpenAI’s UAE facility sourced from Google Maps, along with a photo of the project’s executives, mistakenly identifying Cisco’s chief product officer, Jeetu Patel, as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

In related developments, former President Donald Trump issued threats against Iran on Truth Social, declaring that Tuesday would be “Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day” if the country does not allow access to the Strait of Hormuz. He also mentioned to ABC News that the US intends to “blow up the entire country” if an agreement is not reached. In response, Iran’s Foreign Ministry asserted its commitment to defending national security and sovereignty with full force.
