James Marsden, reprising his role as Cyclops in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, is raising expectations for this massive MCU crossover, assuring fans of the classic X-Men that they will be satisfied with the film.

“Absolutely,” Marsden told an outlet at the Apple TV+ event when asked if Avengers: Doomsday would meet the hopes of fans of the original X-Men films and his character Cyclops, while humorously adding, “I’ve also been trained not to discuss this project.”

While he avoids revealing any plot details, he assures MCU fans will be “blown away” by Doomsday, emphasizing that Marvel is attentive to fan expectations.

“You can definitely expect to be amazed and see so many new elements,” he states. “The Russo brothers just keep raising the bar, and Marvel is delivering what everyone wants.”

Marsden first portrayed Cyclops in X-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Last Stand. After a 20-year hiatus, he returns in a costume that pays homage to his iconic ’90s look, designed by Jim Lee and adapted for X-Men: The Animated Series.

Fans have long desired a true superhero representation of the X-Men, and Marvel Studios appears to be fulfilling that promise in Avengers: Doomsday, showcasing a more comic-inspired aesthetic as the team joins forces with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18. Stay informed about all the upcoming Marvel movies and shows currently in development.
