Jason Statham’s intense boat thriller set to dominate Prime Video charts until Beekeeper 2 arrives.
A vigilante crime fighter taking down bad guys while rocking a big coat? You bet! Jason Statham is back with a new flick.
This August, Statham hits the big screen in *Mutiny*, a spiritual successor to *Transporter*, *The Mechanic*, *The Beekeeper*, *A Working Man*, and this past January’s *Shelter*, along with every other film where he plays a martial-arts-trained black-ops operative who goes rogue for a good cause. Hats off to this 58-year-old for treating dramatic revenge and roundhouse kicks as a job rather than some lofty art form.
The first trailer for *Mutiny* has dropped, showcasing the essentials: a group of thugs is attempting to human traffic women and children, and Statham’s ex-cop character is ready to take them down. The action seems a bit more expansive than your typical Statham film—not quite *The Meg*, but he does scale the side of a boat at one point. I gasped when he used a shipping container lock to slice someone’s cheek open. Now that’s cinema!
*Mutiny* is directed by Jean-François Richet, who previously worked on *Plane* with Gerard Butler. It’s a missed chance not to title this one *Boat*, but what can you do? Along with the trailer, it was revealed that *Mutiny* will run a brisk 95 minutes, which is definitely something to get me hyped for a movie like this.
*Mutiny* sails into theaters on August 21, and thanks to a new streaming deal, it will eventually be available for endless replays. After that, *The Beekeeper 2* is set to arrive in January. Statham just keeps going!
*A Working Man* is currently streaming on Prime Video, and yes, it’s also available on this jet I’m on.
