Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th is set to join Dead by Daylight.

One of the most sought-after slashers by Dead by Daylight players is finally making his way into the game. Developer Behaviour Interactive revealed during a special 10-year anniversary stream that Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th series will soon join the ranks of Killers.

Jason is set to officially arrive in Dead by Daylight on June 16.

This addition is a significant win for Behaviour and for fans of Friday the 13th who enjoy asymmetrical survival horror experiences. Jason previously headlined his own game, 2017’s Friday the 13th: The Game, but the online multiplayer servers were shut down in 2020, and the game was delisted in 2023 due to licensing issues surrounding the character. However, with the launch of the Jason Universe project, new stories and games featuring him are in the works. This includes upcoming projects like A24’s horror series Crystal Lake, as well as Jason’s appearances in games like Call of Duty and Fortnite. He also starred in a short film for Apple Orchard titled Sweet Revenge last year.

Over the years, Jason has made guest appearances in various games, including MultiVersus and Mortal Kombat X.

With Jason joining Dead by Daylight, Behaviour has nearly rounded up all the iconic slasher figures from mainstream horror cinema. He will now hunt survivors alongside other notorious characters like Chucky from Child’s Play, Michael Myers from Halloween, Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street, Ghostface from Scream, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Pinhead from Hellraiser (though the latter has been removed from sale in Dead by Daylight).

So, who’s still missing? There are a few classic and modern horror icons that could potentially join the fray. Candidates like Candyman, Art the Clown from Terrifier, and The Tall Man from Phantasm are all strong possibilities for future Dead by Daylight Killers.

For now, Dead by Daylight fans can look forward to the arrival of this horror legend. Stay tuned for more updates on Jason’s debut in Dead by Daylight, which is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, with a mobile version also available.

Jason lives!
