In exciting news, Apple has revealed the first look at Sam Hargrave’s Matchbox The Movie, inspired by the classic Matchbox cars from Mattel, promising a thrilling ride.

During Apple’s Press TV Day, three images from the upcoming action-adventure film were unveiled, with the movie set to premiere globally on Apple TV on Friday, October 9, 2026.

The first image shows John Cena, known for his role in Peacemaker, sprinting between cars, looking a bit battered. The second image features Cena alongside Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, and Arturo Castro, all dressed to the nines as they enter what appears to be a glamorous event.

The third image gives a glimpse of the action to come, showcasing a helicopter hovering over a road where a truck, car, and motorbike are in a high-speed chase. Matchbox fans might recognize the Ford Mustang GT on the left, a classic from the toy line.

Inspired by the beloved Mattel toys, Apple describes Matchbox The Movie as an “action-packed, globetrotting adventure about a group of childhood friends whose lives are turned upside down when their long-lost leader, undercover CIA agent Sean (John Cena), returns to their small town and inadvertently pulls them into a frantic international mission to save the world.”

Alongside Cena, Biel, Richardson, Parris, and Castro, the cast also includes Corey Stoll, Bill Camp, Danai Gurira, Golshifteh Farahani, and more. Hargrave, known for directing the Extraction films starring Chris Hemsworth, helms the project from a script by David Coggeshall and Jonathan Tropper.

Matchbox The Movie premieres on Apple TV on October 9, 2026. Stay tuned for more updates on the latest films and keep an eye on what’s coming your way.
