The Mandalorian is set to make its cinematic debut in “The Mandalorian and Grogu.” Co-creator and director Jon Favreau is committed to captivating audiences who are used to streaming the series on Disney+.

During a panel at the New York Toy Fair, Favreau stated, “We have to elevate our game for the movie theater, which means utilizing taller aspect ratios for IMAX and creating sets that fully leverage that… we need to enhance everything, including the storytelling.”

He continued, “We want to take you on an adventure that fills the screen, something that will make you stop what you’re doing and head to the theater, especially with so much vying for your attention right now.”

Interestingly, this also includes a “powered-up” Grogu. The beloved character, previously known as Baby Yoda, has been training with Ahsoka Tano and Luke Skywalker but chose to return to Din Djarin as a Mandalorian.

While the first trailer for “The Mandalorian and Grogu” only teased the scale of what’s to come, a newly announced ‘Ice Planet Chase’ figure suggests an exhilarating sequence featuring Din and Grogu escaping from an AT-AT.

Starring Pedro Pascal, Jeremy Allen White, and Sigourney Weaver, “The Mandalorian and Grogu” is set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
