Jujutsu Kaisen manga confirms beloved character’s return in the sequel.
Great news for anime enthusiasts! The sequel manga, Modulo, has confirmed that Aoi Todo, Yuji Itadori’s friend, is still alive.
In Chapter 20 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, titled ‘Old Soldiers Never Die,’ sorcerer Kazuya Mino is on a mission to find Yuji and reaches out to Nobara Kugisaki for intel. When Mino inquires about Yuji, Kugisaki hints that Todo might have some leads. While we don’t see Todo directly, this phone call reassures us of his survival.
The chapter also reveals more about Todo’s current status. It turns out he’s no longer an active sorcerer, as Mino refers to him as a “former first-grade sorcerer,” indicating he never achieved the Special Grade status we speculated. Additionally, it seems Todo has lost favor with most, with Kugisaki noting that Yuji is the only one who still supports him.
Despite Todo’s decline, it’s comforting to know he’s still around. He became a fan-favorite in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, first introduced as a third-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High School, where he was a grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer under the mentorship of Yuki Tsukumo. However, we haven’t seen him since Season 2, where he sustained injuries during the Shibuya Incident and had to sever his own arm to escape Mahito’s transfiguration.
As Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 progresses without Todo, our beloved sorcerers are navigating The Culling Game, initiated by Noritoshi Kamo. The season has set the stage for this intense arc, and the action is heating up. Episode 6 is set to air on February 5. For specific timings, refer to the Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 release schedule.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 continues to stream weekly on Crunchyroll.
